Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about English lessons. If you don't see your question here, feel free to contact me directly.
How do online lessons work?
+Online lessons are conducted via Zoom. You'll receive a link before your scheduled lesson. All you need is a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet with a webcam, and headphones with a microphone for the best audio quality. I'll provide all necessary materials digitally before the lesson.
How often should I take lessons?
+For optimal progress, I recommend at least one 1-hour lesson per week. However, this can vary based on your goals, availability, and budget. Some students prefer twice-weekly lessons for faster progress, while others with busy schedules might opt for longer, less frequent sessions.
Do you assign homework?
+Yes, I typically assign homework to reinforce what we've covered in lessons. Homework is always tailored to your level and learning objectives. Completing homework regularly will significantly accelerate your progress, but it's flexible based on your schedule and availability.
What is your teaching approach?
+My teaching approach is communicative and student-centered. This means I focus on practical language use rather than just theory. Lessons are interactive and tailored to your interests and goals. I balance structured learning with natural conversation practice, adapting my method to your learning style.
How do I know my current English level?
+If you're unsure about your level, I offer a free assessment during our first meeting. Alternatively, you can take the quick assessment on the homepage. This helps me understand your strengths and areas for improvement, so I can create an appropriate learning plan.
What payment methods do you accept?
+I accept various payment methods including bank transfers, PIX, and credit cards. Payment is typically due at the beginning of each month for that month's lessons, or before each individual lesson if you prefer a pay-as-you-go approach.
What is your cancellation policy?
+Lessons can be rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice at no charge. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may be charged 50% of the lesson fee, except in cases of emergency. No-shows will be charged the full lesson fee.
How long will it take to improve my English?
+Progress varies greatly depending on your starting level, learning goals, lesson frequency, and time spent practicing outside of lessons. Generally, with regular lessons and practice, you should notice improvement within a few weeks. Significant progress is typically seen after 2-3 months of consistent study.
Do you offer group lessons?
+I primarily focus on one-on-one lessons to provide personalized attention. However, I do offer small group lessons (2-4 students) for friends, colleagues, or family members with similar proficiency levels and goals. Group rates are available upon request.
Can you help with specific English tests (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.)?
+Yes, I offer specialized preparation for major English proficiency tests including TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE, CPE), and others. These preparation courses focus on test strategies, practice with authentic test materials, and targeted improvement of the skills assessed in your chosen exam.
